Let me show you an interesting Nigerian economy mathematics
N50 = 1 sachet water
N100 = 3 sachet water (logical)
N200 = 6 sachet water (double of N100…. Which seems fair)
The Same N200 = 10 sachet water (half of the entire bag which is 20 pcs)
Do you know why I’m giving you this petty breakdown?
If N200 gives you just 6 sachets of water and the same N200 gives you half a bag of 10 pcs, then what is the difference?
The difference is in the MINDSET. “WHAT ARE YOU ASKING FOR?
English is a big thing in my country Nigeria. If you go to a store and ask to “buy half a bag of water” they will give you 10 sachets of water for 200 Naira
If you go to the same shop at another point in time and use a different English like “I want to buy 200 Naira water” they will give you 6 sachets of water…..
LOL. Incredible right.
The point of this post is not about sachet water.
The point of this post is about THINKING BIG. THINKING DIFFERENTLY.
You would realize that in so many areas of your life you are using the same amount of resources to get less output maybe because of laziness or a knowledge gap.
How to solve this problem? Here are 3 things to start with:
- Be PERSPICACIOUS: Pay attention to people, things and your environment.
- Gain exposure. Especially if you have not left Nigeria. Start saving money for your passport and visa (this includes me)
- Work Hard: LOL. Who the f*ck am I to even advise you to work hard. Well, it’s true. Making it out of a place like Nigeria is hard work. Especially if you are from low and middle income family.
