Marketers and Business Owners need to learn from “Yahoo Boys”

Here are 5 key strategies that internet fraudsters use to find and convert their leads and how you can leverage them as a legit business owner.

I am gradually gaining reputation for having the worst blog titles. It’s not the best branding strategy but I definitely know it will grab attention.

Hhmmm… Let me answer a pressing question that made you click this link. It is a question I know must have been bothering your mind to find an answer to and find it quick. You must be thinking in your head. “WHAT THE HELLL IS WRONG WITH THIS GUY?” OR “COULD HE ACTUALLY BE INVOLVED??

Akintola are you a YAHOO BOY?

Well just to clear the air so that 20 years from now when I am a billionaire EFCC and FBI won’t come back here and screenshot this post as evidence against me in the court of law. “NO” I am not a yahoo boy. However, this post is not to investigate how I make my daily 2K. This post to draw your attention to some business strategies that you are probably not paying attention to because you think they are illegal and should’t have anything to do with you.

If in the bible, God can pay attention to what ants are doing and how we can learn some stratgies that can be useful to our christian success and salvation, why can’t you pay attention to the strategies used by the people of the world, refine them, and apply them to your business in a way that nobody is hurt and everyone is happy.

In my recent years as a designer and trying to build an online business I have been paying attention to people that use the internet to make bastard money. I pay attention to the strategies that they are using, both good and bad.

For the focus of this post, I’ll be talking about the strategies of internet fraudsters and how you can leverage them as a legit marketer and business owner.

Here are 5 key strategies that internet fraudsters use to find and convert their leads and how you can leverage them as a legit business owner.

  1. They know their audience: This is the number one rule of business. They know who they are targeting. From the country they are located, their age, their gender, what they like, what turns them on, what gets them interested, what social media platform to find them. You need to make this a key aspect of your business. The faster you can define your audience, the faster you can get to them.
  2. They know how to position themselves to attract their audience: Right from their social media name, to the bio description, to the kind of pictures they post, to the kind of contents they send to their audience during a conversation. Positioning is what builds perception. You can’t control what your customers think but you can guide the things they think about through how we position ourselves.
  3. They know where and how to find fishes: If Mohammed doesn’t go the mountain, then the mountain will come to Mohammed. Even Peter toiled all day and all night and couldn’t find any Fish until he changed direction. You need to know where they are spending their time online. “What social media platform, what facebook groups, what online communities are they spending their time?”. This is where research comes in. You don’t need to be a college graduate to make a research. Ask questions, be perspicacious, and make your moves.
  4. They know how to make a customer that has paid before to keep paying — Retainers: Someone once said that the best kind of business models are the ones where the customers keep buying on a calculated time period. Advanced business owners identify these kind of businesses through determining LTV’s “Life Time Value” — You can google that phrase.
  5. I spent more than 15 minutes trying to think of the 5th point but I couldn’t think of any key point at this point and I don’t want to formulate something that is a lie. LOOLL.

So my friend there you have it. I’m curious about this post though. Do you agree or disagree with me? I really want to know. Share your thoughts in the comments below.

Till my next post, enjoy your weekend.
